We crossed
California from Exeter to Monterey, past citrus groves, oil wells,
fruit and vegetable crops, plus a lot of winding and mountanous roads. |

this fire engine. |

You pay 8 dollars
to visit 17 Mile Drive and you see a lot for your money. The
peninsular beach surrounds expensive properties and golf courses. |

Seabirds and sea
lions laze on the nearby rocky islands. You hear them before you see them! |

It was a day to
see fire engines, and another one was seen on the 17 Mile Drive.
Rather a different colour for a fire engine. We drove on to Monterey
where our hotel was situated on the beach. |
