View from Empire State Building

It was a clear day and we had extensive views of New York City from the top of the Empire State Building.

View from Empire State Building

The roofs glimmered and there were strong shadows in the late afternoon sunlight.

You can see the aptly named Flat Iron Building in the centre of this picture.

On Times Square and through the Park the carriages were always present.

We looked inside the United Nations Building, but did not have the time or energy to do a full tour.

Ground Zero

The front of Ground Zero, where the black boards have etched the names of those who perished on that fateful day of 9/11.

Ground Zero

A rough metal cross symbolizes the starkness of what remains. It is expected that the rebuild work with the world's tallest building will not be completed until 2020.

Ground Zero

From the other side one can see the Subway has been rebuilt, and the site has been cleared. However, after three years and seven months it still looks very empty.

World Financial Center

The World Financial Center building, close to Ground Zero.

Museum of Natural History

Dinosaur skeleton at the American Museum of Natural History. Lots to do here - we did not scratch the surface!
