View of Statue of Liberty from Ferry

We caught the ferry to Liberty Island from Battery Park. The secret is to get on the right hand side of the boat going across and on the left hand side on the way back.

View from Ferry of Statue of Liberty

The Statue of Liberty dominated the skyline and the boat passes close by before mooring at Liberty Island.

The statue was given to the Americans by the French and is recognised as the symbol of freedom.

A terrific background of dark blue sky. None of these skies have been digitally enhanced, but are as processed by the camera..

We walked all around the statue, which is a walk all around the island!

This is the original torch, now kept in the museum below the statue.

A full sized replica of the face of the statue. I liked the headgear of the children.

Looking back to the New York skyline from Liberty Island.

Approaching Ellis Island, as would have been the view to the millions of immigrants who passed through this entrance point to the USA around the turn of the 20th century.

The Great Hall at Ellis Island where the immigrants were processed.

The view of the Statue of Liberty from the Great Hall.

The Ellis Island Great Hall Building and Museum.

The New York skyline from the ferry.
