From the Bahia Honda State Park we had a good view of the old rail
bridge, which now cannot be completely traversed as sections are demolished. |

Bird life on the beaches gives the naturalist and casual observer
much to see. This was at Bahia Honda State Park. |

This is the beach at Bahia Honda State Park, which is claimed to be
the best in America. It had the appearance on a Caribbean island
beach, but less crowded. |

At Key West, the port area is interesting to visit, with cruise ships
berthed on the quay. |

Ernest Hemingway's house, which we did not have time to visit. |

The Southernmost point in the USA. Cuba is only
90 miles away. |

At Key West you can often hear roosters crowing
and I managed to snap this one in a tree, near the lighthouse. |

The Lighthouse - 88 steps to the top. |

The view of Key West from the top of the lighthouse. |

An evening shot, standing on the old rail bridge looking northwards
at Seven Mile Bridge. |

The Sombrero Beach at Marathon was relatively
free from crowds, with a coral reef and golden sands. We thought it
was better than the beach at Bahia Honda National Park. |

We found this Key Deer near the end of No Name Key. They are a very
minute species, fully grown they are less than three feet high. |

He was amazingly tame and crossed the road towards us, within a few
feet of the car. It is illegal to feed these deer, but apparently
they were fed in the past and therefore have no fear of cars or humans. |

This is the original accommodation the bridge builders had at Pigeon
Island, at the beginning of the 20th century when the Seven Mile
Bridge was built. |

Looking South from Pigeon Island gives a good view of the
"hump" on the new Seven Mile road bridge on the left, with
the original rail bridge on the right. |
